Frequently Asked Questions
What is your base fabric?
Our fabrics are mostly Zweigart with a few exceptions. Jobelan & 30 ct linen are Wichelt based.
Are your fabrics colorfast?
Our fabrics are colorfast to industry standards. There is a possibility that color can still run. If you need to wash your fabric, please do so before stitching, so the color cannot run into your floss.
What size is my fabric?
Generally, a fat quarter is 18x27.5", a fat half is 36x27.5" and a yard is 36x55". Some fabrics are a little longer or shorter. Our opalescent aidas are only 44 inches in length. Our regular Aida is 59 inches in length.
Do the fabrics shrink?
Fabric is cut pre-dye. It does shrink during the dyeing process, up to 1-2 inches. Your holes shrink as well, which means you still have a framing allowance, as though it were the original size.
How long until I receive my order?
Fabrics are made to order. We ask 6-8 weeks to give you an estimated timeframe. We usually exceed our estimate.
Why is my fabric a little different than the photo on your website?
Hand-dyed fabrics are dyed one piece at a time. There will be variances based on type of fabric, dyelots, and even your computer monitor.
How do I change my fabric of the month subscription?
Please send me a message and I can make any changes that you would like.
Can I add something to my fabric of the month shipment?
Yes, please let us know BEFORE you are invoiced for FOTM. If you would like it in February, we need to know before January 31.
The catalog says available, do you have the fabric in stock?
All of our fabric is available to be ordered. With 25 different types of fabrics and 125 different colors, we cannot keep an inventory on hand.
